If you are starting out your own blog - which by the way is a good way of demonstrating your online marketing passion - there are several free tools out there that will help you to do just that. Two of the main platforms are Blogger and Wordpress.
But if you are just starting out it is hard to make the right call on which tool to choose. Which one is easier to use, which one can facilitate me to do what I want to do etc. These are all questions you will have to ask yourself. And so did I before starting this blog.
What I found is that it really depends on what you want from a blog. If you are just starting out and want an affordable option like me, Blogger is the best option for you. If you are seeing great results and need more features you can always migrate to Wordpress.
Below are some feature comparisons that may help you to make your choice.
What is missing from the overview below is the usability of Blogger v Wordpress.com. I felt that Blogger is much easier to use and much easier to integrate to your Analytics account as well. (I think the free version of Wordpress can actually not be connected to your Analytics account) Also for a beginner it is not the easiest thing to set up domain names, hostings, FTP etc. Blogger is a good and user friendly start.
While I really like this little overview below, I have to point out that it actually does not compare like with like. It would be better to get an overview of Blogger and Wordpress.com which is the free version of Wordpress. Then these results would look different. But best is: Try both and decide after you tried for yourself.
