While on the hunt for some Master courses in Digital Marketing in Dublin I discovered that there isn't many
out there yet. Digital Marketing is so new and recent that the institutions have not managed to catch up with the growing demand in training and education in this area but I predict within the next few years the courses will be mushrooming and my summary below will have to be updated. (Which I did: See updated post from 2015 here)

A marketer without at least some knowledge in digital marketing is pretty much stuck for some extra training which is why there is a growing interest for professionals and company owners to up-skill.
But what about us graduates craving more knowledge in that area..
So, there I was, googling away, joining discussions on LinkedIn, watching videos, browsing Twitter, and I also went to the Postgrad Ireland Fair.. but how would I know which one of the online marketing courses is good and appropriate for what I am looking for? Which one of these courses doesn't have a requirement of 2 or 3 years industry experience, which modules are covered and how often do the courses take place? But the most important question was - how much?
I made one amazing discovery, so, if you haven't heard of them yet, you have to check out this brilliant (and free) opportunity to learn from experts - Techspectations in DCU. This team of students and lecturers organise free tutorials, boot camps and webinars on digital marketing topics. I attended the boot camp in February (2012) and it was absolutely brilliant.
I created a summary for myself to compare all the digital marketing courses in Dublin discovered during my research, which is what I am sharing with you today. I hope it will help you to make the right decision. Don't forget to enlarge the view or download and share the doc. Here are some folks discussing and recommending different courses, so it might help to make a final decision.
One more little tip from me: If you are a graduate don't rush into a course right after college, if you are not 100% sure what you want to do. These courses can be quite pricey. An internship can be a good alternative.

Hi Julia,
ReplyDeleteGreat Post and review. I agree with you, DCU techspectations seminars are great and should be considered by anybody interested in Digital Marketing.
Just want to let you know that UCD is launching a MSc in Digital Marketing, full time programme (no work experience required) in addition to the executive part time program.
Info here : http://www.slideshare.net/LaurentMuzellec/master-digitalmarketing and here: http://www.smurfitschool.ie/mastersprogrammes/marketing/mscindigitalmarketing/
See what current students think of the program here: http://digitalmarketingstrategy.ucd.ie/category/life/
A lecture is for MBA so would be more general than waht we do in the MSc in Digital Marketing but still give some idea of the topic we may cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k05PHPjLdpU&playnext=1&list=PLC5A984A39E7A8DB3&feature=results_video
